1st Media Workshop on Organ Donation and Transplantation

International Transplantation Network Project (ITN- International Transplant Network) Phase 2 has begun. Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economy, supported by SESRIC and DEIK, Turkey Organ Transplantation Foundation (Tonv) project carried out by the five universities and five non-governmental organizations in coordination 1st Organ Transplantation and Organ Donation Media Workshop was held. The opening of the workshop held from 17-19 August, President Adviser Ihsan Sener, DEIK Secretary General Mustafa Mente, DEIK Turkish-African Business Council Chairman Tamer Taskin, the Chairman of DEIK Health Business Council Rusen Yildirim and Health Tourism Business Council of DEIK member İlyas Benveniste attended. 33 journalists from 14 countries were informed about Turkey’s economic and political situation.

The first day of the next part of the afternoon program continued with hospital visits. Our guests visited Acibadem Atakent and Memorial Hospital of Sisli. In the field of organ transplantation was informed about the health service.

On the 2nd day of the program, the important names in academia and media talked about serving the news of organ donation. As main topics, Organ Transplantation and Organ Donation Media Influence and Power in Health Communication, Organ Trafficking,Adverse Publicity and new media discussed. On the same day the donor families and organ recipients mentioned about their experiences and reality.

At end of the 3rd day, we visited Kent Hospital in Izmir. Our guests are from 14 different countries and left Tukey on 19th of August. before leaving Turkey, they mentioned about their appreciate about organisation.
